Saw Kasule at Airdrie Town Hall last night as part of the Summersong event, which was a local music day at the newly refurbished Town Hall. There were 2 stages, an acoustic and a main stage. Kasule played the main stage to a huge room but their noise was more than big enough to fill it.
One aspect I love about a Kasule gig is the visuals that are sprayed across the back wall, this is usually the only thing lighting the band and you can get hypnotised by the visuals and forget you’re at a gig as your eyes concentrate on the projections leaving your ears free to focus on the fantastic noise. This didn’t work so well this time due to there being a black back cloth and no projection screen so it’s the first time I’ve seen the band with flashing and moving lights but this didn’t detract from the enjoyment as the quality of the sound in the refurbished splendour of the Town Hall was superb.
Not enough people are aware of Kasule. Here is a link to a Kasule track on Youtube. It’s only got 175 views, which is criminal in my eyes, these guys should be much wider known and they also need to get new material out and get some gigs organised. In the meantime check them out at their website at www.kasule.co.uk and download their superb music. You’ll not be disappointed
Whilst there wasn’t the crowd supporting this event that is deserved, I hope it continues, maybe in a smaller venue. Towns like Coatbridge and Airdrie need their local music championed like this and for me Kasule went home champions last night.
